How we compare

Rankings are editorial judgments based on published product details and aggregated user feedback. Product images on this site are supplied by the tools, not outputs from a controlled head-to-head test.

1. Start with the task

We group tools by a specific use case: social graphics, commercial-safe marketing, budget creation, photo effects or upscaling. A tool is compared where its capabilities are most relevant.

2. Sources and limits

We use official product and pricing documentation alongside reported user experience. Source notes identify the basis for claims. These are not controlled laboratory benchmarks; a documented feature or user review cannot guarantee the same outcome for your own prompt.

3. What we score

• Output quality for that specific job — not general prettiness.
• Control — how predictably you can steer a result toward a brief.
• Usable format — whether what comes out can actually be handed to a client or printed.
• Cost and limits — plan prices, credits and the restrictions of a free tier.
• Licensing clarity — whether commercial use is plainly permitted.

4. A weakness is mandatory

Every tool on this site carries a stated weakness. A tool without a documented weakness does not get published. This is deliberate friction against the drift toward everything being excellent.

5. A focused shortlist

We cover a focused set of relevant tools rather than claim to catalog every available product. Omission is not proof a tool is inferior.

6. Verification dates

Source notes show when information was researched or checked. Prices, plan limits and model access can change; verify the latest terms on the provider's own site before making a purchase.

7. Corrections

If a tool improves or a detail is wrong, we revise the guide and note substantive changes in Featured updates.
